Rumor: Konami Reviving Castlevania, Metal Gear, and Silent Hill, MGS 3 Remake in Development

Konami may be returning to the AAA market

Konami was once one of the best publishers in gaming, delivering high-acclaimed titles with incredible IPs such as Silent Hill, Metal Gear, and Castlevania. Since the termination of Hideo Kojima, the company has focused more on pachinko machines and mobile releases but according to a report from VGC, Konami is going to revive dormant franchises using outside developers.

Metal Gear Solid V,NoobFeed,

According to the source, VGC was told that Konami is seeking to bring back the company's biggest brands. This includes Castlevania, Metal Gear, and Silent Hill. With Metal Gear Solid being worked on by Virtuos who worked on Dark Souls Remastered, The Outer Worlds for Switch, BioShock Collection, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, and Horizon Zero Dawn. It's apparently a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Konami is also looking to bring the classic Metal Gear games to modern systems.

As for Silent Hill, various studios are working on a new entry.

This willingness to outsource IPs after previous pushback was due to the failure of Metal Gear Survive and Contra: Rogue Corps. With the company now willing to outsource IPs. While it likely won't be the canceled Silent Hills at least these memorable brands are coming back.
