Nintendo's Switch Online Expansion Pack seems to be getting a rather impressive catalogue of new games coming to its online platform. In its most recent update for June 2023, the platform added over 4 new games. The games in question are Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Landstalker, Crusader of Centy, and The Revenge of Shinobi that have been added to its already extensive lineup.
The platform has steadily been getting new content since it initially launched back in 2018. The platform rose to popularity due to it allowing players to play older Nintendo games, many of which haven't received ports and there's no other way to play them in an official capacity. Back in 2021, Nintendo added a more expensive tier to the platform, known as the Expansion Pack. This added Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games to the service's library on top of all that was already included in the base service. Players had the chance to play titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Ecco the Dolphin, and Phantasy Star 4.
However, in June 2023, it would seem that we are getting even more added as players will now be able to play Sega Genesis games Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Landstalker, Crusader of Centy, and The Revenge of Shinobi. All these games were added to the Expansion Pack in its most recent update. For those of you who are unfamiliar, Ghouls 'n Ghosts is a side-scroller released by Capcom back in 1988, Landstalker is an isometric RPG, reminiscent of the shining force series and was released back 1992, Crusader of Centy is another classic game from 1994 and just like Crusader of Centy, it is another classic game released by Sega in 1989 who is probably most famous for its soundtrack which is composed by Yuzo Koshiro, the legendary composer behind the soundtrack a of phenomenal games like Shenmue and the Streets of Rage series.
Switch Online Expansion Pack is certainly turning into a wonderful platform and lets players have a chance to walk down memory lane while giving them some old-school Nintendo games that haven't been so lucky to receive the remake treatment or haven't been ported over to other platforms. The service is ever growing and is always adding new games for players to enjoy, and we may soon get a chance to play even more in the future.
