More twisted Japanese horror planned for Kodoku, if it makes this small funding campaign.

Mysterious horror game Kodoku is looking to append its story, which bears few details already, with a comic book series detailing its origins. It currently has a Kickstarter project with a low goal of just £3,500 to produce five stories about this strange Asian island.

Both the art and lore for Kodoku makes use of Japanese culture and malformed creatures. Amidst a rural environment, a character will explore a few traditional Japanese structures and find horrible things inside. There will also be monsters chasing the character and they’ll be tormented with conflicting thoughts on how to handle the situation. To nicely frame the atmosphere developer Carnivore Studio is going for, they mention the following:

One of our inspiration for this was 'Spirited Away', but in a Horror way.

Unfortunately, the game is still cryptic in many ways. Even the pitch video is a lazy copy of the Kodoku teaser trailer, so hopefully there will be some more details as the campaign continues. A personal plea would already do wonders, just saying.

Kodoku, the game, will release on Playstation 4 and PS Vita, some day. That, too, is a mystery.
