The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Guide | How To Make Lots of Gold Fast
A guide on how to make tons of money in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
Game Guide by Groot on May 07, 2025
This guide will show you how to make tons of money in Oblivion Remastered—approximately 20,000 to 25,000 gold every 10 minutes. The setup required is minimal; you need a novice pestle and mortar to get started.
It will take you about an hour to an hour and a half to reach the same earning potential as described in this guide, and that's only because of how alchemy works. Basically, when you reach level 100 in alchemy, you can make a potion with a single ingredient instead of needing two ingredients, which doubles the output and doubles the profit.
The Method
This money-making method involves visiting several different locations and gathering all the resources. You'll be collecting fruits and vegetables that have the same primary effect: restoring fatigue. You'll then use these ingredients to make hundreds of restore fatigue potions, which you can sell to a special merchant who can buy them in larger quantities than most others.
Gathering Locations
Lord Drad's Estate
Head to the farm in the west of the map. Once there, loot all of the fruit and vegetables you can find. All of these ingredients have the same primary effect of restoring fatigue, which is what you'll be using to make your potions.
Shetcombe Farm
After gathering all the supplies from the first farm, head to the following location. It's best to do this naked if your carrying capacity is low. Once you've found these locations, you can fast travel back to them without worrying about any enemies. Make sure to grab all the carrots on the ground and all other vegetation.
Shardrock
Continue to the third farm and collect all the resources there. The setup for finding all these locations takes about 10 minutes, but getting to level 100 in alchemy can probably be done in an hour. After that, it's just free money. You also get tons of experience points in other skills, especially in Mercantile, which is beneficial for reasons explained later.
Grateful Pass Stables
Last but not least, head to the massive farm near the main town. There are a couple of places in the stables you could go to as well, but they have high crash rates, so it's better to avoid them. This is the most prominent gathering spot where you'll get tons of grapes on vines. The area is spread across two fields, so it will take you a little while to grab everything.
Collection Tips
Depending on your speed, you can complete this entire run in about 6-8 minutes. It's recommended to do this naked for increased carry capacity and also in third-person view because it makes it easier to flick your screen across all the items and grab them quickly.
Making and Selling Potions
Once you've gathered all your ingredients, go back to wherever you're making your potions. You can buy a little shack in the Imperial City for only 2,000 gold. After doing this method a few times, you'll be able to buy all the properties in the game with no problem.
Selling Process
For selling your potions, visit the Anvil. You can fast travel here at any point in the game. Head to Anvil's main gate and then go into the shop nearby. This is one of the merchants with the highest amount of gold. When you first meet them, they won't have the same amount of gold as shown in the guide because you'll need to invest in their shop (explained below).
Go to this merchant and sell all your potions. The reason for choosing this specific merchant is that when you have a massive stack of potions (which is normal in this method), most merchants can only buy 20-30 at a time, requiring you to scroll back through your inventory repeatedly. This merchant in Anvil can take a lot more.
Increasing Profits
As you keep doing this, you'll earn alchemy experience points, level up your main character, and gain Mercantile experience points. When you reach a certain level of Mercantile, you can speak to shop owners, and there will be a conversation option to "invest 500 gold in this shop".
If you invest that 500 gold, it increases the amount of gold they have, which in turn increases the amount of stuff you can sell to them at once without having to deal in smaller batches. This speeds up the selling process significantly. The merchant in Anvil goes from having about 1,200 gold to 2,200 gold after investment.
Notes for Beginners
If you're not level 100 in alchemy yet, you won't be earning the maximum amount of money right off the bat. But once you reach level 100, you don't even need to repeat the fruit and vegetable method if you don't want to—grab all ingredients wherever you go, as every single one can be turned into a potion.
You can further make this method more efficient by upgrading the alchemy tools. The better tools are found as random loot in chests; you can't just go and buy them anywhere.
With this method, you'll be swimming in gold in no time, allowing you to purchase all properties and upgrades in the game with ease.
