Those who already purchased The Walking Dead: The Final Season will still get the game

One of the most asked questions this year was about the fate of The Walking Dead: The Final Season following Telltale Games closure. Eventually, Robert Kirkman's Skybound would revitalize the final season of Clementine's adventure, with the third episode "Broken Toys" set to release this January 15th. Those on PC will, however, need to purchase the game on the Epic Games Store as it'll be an exclusive game on the service.
Those who already own the season on other clients, such as Steam, will still have access to the final 2 episodes but everyone else will have to purchase the season through Epic's digital store.
“The team at Epic owns a major chapter in the history of the game industry. We’re excited to work together on their latest transformative event with the launch of the Epic Games Store. Epic stepped up to the plate immediately to work with us in order to bring the original team back together and ensure fans will receive the completed season of TELLTALE’S THE WALKING DEAD: THE FINAL SEASON,” said President of Interactive Dan Murray and Skybound Games CEO Ian Howe in a joint-statement.
This isn't the first developer to offer an exclusive partnership with Epic Games with Team Meat provided Super Meat Boy, and Supergiant Games offering users early access to their new game Tripwire's Maneater, Hades through the service.
While you wait for the third episode check out our reviews for Episode 1: Done Running and Episode 2: Suffer the Children along with our predictions for Episode 3: Broken Toys.
