At a press event this morning Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the 4th generation operating system for iPhone and iPod Touch. Among the numerous discussed features was a social network for games.
According to Jobs, the new social network will allow for a single integrated friends list for all App Store games, as well as online leaderboards and, yes, achievements. Jobs commented that upwards of 50,000 games are available for download on the App Store.
Among the other announcements at the event was the revelation that OS 4.0 will allow for multi-tasking. Among the Apps shown running was the popular voice and video chat program Skype. In addition to using Skype to make calls, it makes sense that gamers will now be able to use the App to chat with other gamers while playing the latest multiplayer games.
