Arma 3 Announced

News by Jesse Dolman on  May 22, 2011

Only two years after Arma II and one year after Operation Arrowhead, a new Arma game is upon us. Arma 3 will take place on a mediterranean island, where you must operate deep behind enemy lines. And at least initially, you're on your own.

Czech developer Bohemia Interactive, the company behind Arma, promises us radical engine improvements (which are very much needed after Arma 2's bugginess). In-game interactions and animations will improve, and the game will also support PhysX.

The other features that are mentioned on Arma 3's official website imply that the game will expand upon the concepts that made the game such a cult hit in the first place. The expansive mission editor will make its return, as well as the vast variety of vehicles and weapons to choose from.

Additionally, one of the screenshots depicts a scuba diver, so it is reasonable to expect the game to expand a bit upon its naval aspect, which has been very limited until now.

Arma 3 will release exclusively for PC in 2012, so prepare to upgrade your rigs!
