Australian Flood Damage Is Over 9000!

Most of you probably heard of the awful floods that have been terrorizing Australia for a while now. Even though yours truly has some buddies down under, it took me a week to find out. I guess being neck-deep in water kind of cuts off communications to the outside world; more so than otherwise when you live outback.

Other than the tragic loss of human lives; which I’m not playing down, they’re equally awful, I had to wipe away my first tear when seeing the damages done to collector NFG’s house in Queensland. This is a story you’ll probably not see end up on the news.

An avid collector of oldschool systems of all kinds, they had to rush to evacuate once the water took over town. They managed to get 4 loads out before having to leave everything else behind. What resulted is just an image that is inhuman to behold. Mud-covered appliances and games as far as the eye can see. As most of these are systems I’ve been looking my entire life for, I got quite choked up at seeing some rare finds destroyed.

You can read their story on their site, along with some photo footage; if you dare. Amongst losses are countless Nintendo Game & Watch handhelds, Neo Geos, PC Engines, Atari’s, etc. for which they luckily were insured.

Godspeed to anyone in Ozland still affected by this horrible disaster and hopes of safe returns for the people still reported missing.
