Beyond Good & Evil 2 Creator States Technical Difficulties as Primary Reason for Delays
Straight from the creator, guess we'll have to wait longer

Earlier this month Ubisoft and creator of Beyond Good & Evil, Michel Ancel, confirmed that the sequel to the cult-classic entered pre-production after years of speculation. Today Ancel provided more details of why the game was delayed so many times.

On his official Instagram Ancel shared some behind-the-scene concept art of the game from 2008 with initial designs for Jade, Pey'j, and one other character.
"2008 Characters . The game was playable with many prototypes . All videos where realtime but we had too much technical issues . We wanted planet exploration , space travel , cities ... All this was also supposed to be in BGE 1 ... Instead of not doing the game of our dreams , we decided to return to 2d , have fun with Rayman and go back at work for Beyond good and Evil 2 . We still have loooooots of work but now the tech is ready and the team is fantastic !"

Beyond Good & Evil 2 is now in development. Perhaps it'll be here before 2018, but that's hoping. The Last Guardian got a release date, one day this will as well.
