Details on new Epic project Bulletstorm
News by David on Apr 16, 2010
The news relating to Bulletstorm project began when a Gears of War 3 Xbox 360 Dashboard was accidentally leaked in an online blog called All Games Beta. The news was official when the May issue of Game Informer was revealed as Epic Games’ secret project. People Can Fly, the developers who made Painkiller, will be in charge of creating the world of Bulletstorm, alongside Epic Games. It was then afterwards that Electronic Arts will be publishing the game, through their EA Partners label.
The game is described as a sci-fi shooter where you engage with “hideous mutants in a flurry of lead, all the while racking up combos that encourage variety over headshot after headshot."
Cliff Bleszinski, head of Epic Games, was to officially announce Gears of War 3 and Bulletstorm on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, though this did not go exactly as planned. With both games already known to the public, publisher Electronic Arts went ahead into announcing Bulletstorm for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC; it's expected to be released sometime in 2011.
Players will take on the role of two mercenaries Grayson Hunt and Ishi Sato, as they are pitted against a chaotic world wrought with mutants and dangerous gangs alike. They will also go up against their former employer, and will attempt to bring down their corrupt establishment. Hunt will be the main playable character of Bulletstorm, and will be able to perform “skillshots,” in which executing different kinds of skillshots will unlock new ones and reward gamers through points. The rest of Bulletstorm’s gameplay features and story remain scarce at this point.
