Diablo III in 2012
News by Craig Bryan on Sep 23, 2011
A few days back Blizzard Entertainment announced to fans that it was set to launch a closed beta of its much-anticipated action role-playing game Diablo III. However, it’s now evident that this was simply a precursor to the statement released today confirming the games delay, now set for an early 2012 release.
This will obviously come as a bit of a let-down to those who have been waiting over a decade for a new entry into the series, but allows for more “polishing” of the final product and an extended beta test that will now be available to more people.

Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime issued a statement saying, "With every game we make, the temptation is always very strong to launch as soon as possible. However, we didn't put so many years of work into Diablo III to release a game that was almost ready."
"This week we pulled together people from all of the teams involved with the game to decide whether we felt it would be ready before the end of December, and we grudgingly came to the conclusion that it would not," he explained.
Diablo III will feature gameplay similar to its predecessor, with the company’s impressive in-house 3D game engine pushing the series to new heights, with fully destructible environments and in-game damage effects that make the experience more interactive than ever before.
