THQ went bankrupt earlier this year and auctioned off its assets, with Nordic Games acquiring the rights to Double Fine's Costume Quest and Stacking.

Today, Double Fine announced that they reacquired the publishing and distribution rights to both games, and that they are forming a partnership with Nordic Games. In partnering with Nordic Games, Double Fine will release retail copies of Psychonauts, Costume Quest and Stacking in North America and Europe.

Tim Schafer, President and CEO of Double Fine, is delighted about the partnership saying, "I am pleased that we have regained full control over Costume Quest and Stacking, following a daring and top-secret midnight raid on the Nordic Games headquarters in Vienna."

If you are familiar with Double Fine, you can recognize Schafer's sense of humor. Lars Wingefors, CEO of Nordic Games, shares Schafer's enthusiasm and says, "However, I feel compelled to point out that we were happy to transfer distribution rights for Costume Quest and Stacking back to Double Fine in an entirely non-secretive and heist-free manner."

Originally released in 2005, Psychonauts was available at retail stores, however, through time has become available only through digital distribution. This will be the first time Costume Quest and Stacking will be available as physical releases, with all three releasing for Windows and Mac during the first half of 2014.
