Star Drifters, a Polish independent studio started by City Interactive co-founders Michal Sokolski and Krzysztof Jakubowski, are busy at work on their first project. Driftland: The Magic Revival is an ambitious strategy title that aims to mix RTS, 4X and God Game elements, all in one package. Players take the role of a powerful mage and aim to conquer Driftland for themselves. Maps are essentially comprised of floating islands, as result of a past cataclysm, which need to be connected by using bridges, should one want to access them and expand their territory. Those too far away require spells be cast in order to bring them closer.

Driftland: The Magic Revival

The islands in Driftland: The Magic Revival will be inhabited by a variety of creatures, of which four major races were mentioned: humans, dwarves, dark elves and wild elves. Aside from that, resource gathering and army building are also part of the course. An interesting feature mentioned is the taming of certain beasts and pairing them with riders (different pairs are said to have different stats). The title is said to feature no active pause and to have players focus on the larger picture via setting of goals, instead of intensively micromanaging your troops through direct control. Powered by the Unreal Engine 4, the Early Access version of Driftland: The Magic Revival will be available on PC and Mac sometime in Q4 2017. Have a look at the game's webpage.
