E3 2010: MGS Rising
News by Logan Smithson on Jun 17, 2010
I think it's safe to say most of us have seen the trailer for Metal Gear Solid: Rising already, but if not, take a look here. The footage has received mixed reactions, but behind the gameplay, gamers are still wanting to know what this game is about. When does it take place? Is it even the "real" Raiden? Well it's time to finally shed a little more light on the subject.
The game will take place between the events of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4, filling in the details on how Raiden got from the whiny, pretty-boy in Sons of Liberty, to the kick-ass ninja in Guns of the Patriots. That's about as far as Mineshi Kimura would go to explain, but at least we finally know what direction the game will be taking.
The gameplay system was also a little further explained. You will be able to cut anywhere at will, as displayed by slicing up the watermelon, and although much faster paced, the game will still have some stealth elements. Raiden will be able to hide much more freely, as he is much more acrobatic than Snake. The aim is to be "almost like a hunting stealth", and also to give the player control to do the things seen in MGS4, like taking down a walking mech single-handedly. The blade isn't Raiden's only weapon, it was said he will also have sub-weapons.
The release date is still unknown, but we can plan to play Metal Gear Solid: Rising on the PS3, 360, and PC, sometime next year.
