E3 2010: Microsoft Motion Towards 'Kinect'

Microsoft is ditching the ‘Project Natal’ name in favor of dubbing their motion controller, the Kinect ( supposedly a pun for the word 'connect' ).

According to Gamespot, the Kinect name seems to be a “tie-in of sorts” to a family of smartphones from Microsoft, the KIN. As of late, Kinect’s price point is still up in the air. Another rumor has surfaced that Kinect will also be bundled with an unconfirmed Xbox 360 slim version.

Xbox Live product manager, Aaron Greenberg, didn’t really divulge on any concrete information regarding Microsoft’s motion controller, though he did say Kinect will be able to "see you, hear you, and recognize you,” hinting at its facial/voice recognition capability.

Microsoft also confirmed Disney would be an “official partner” for the motion controller. Also, USA Today claims that four new games will represent Kinect’s technology. The four games have been identified as Kinect Sports, Kinect Adventures, Kinectimals, and Dance Central (with elements similar to the television show, So You Think You Can Dance? It has also been confirmed the racing game Joy Ride will also support Kinect’s full features. Kinect will also hit stores November.

All information on Kinect is expected to be revealed at the Microsoft press conference.
