Bandai Namco has announced that many known issues within Elden Ring will soon be fixed. Early reviews of the game remarked of reasonable performance, but were tested on version 1.01. Day one saw the retail release of patch 1.02, which caused a multitude of issues of various systems. The application of Easy Anti-Cheat on PC caused severe stuttering, graphical issues, and invisible enemies. Save data was being completely wiped on PlayStation 5 if users entered rest mode or shut the system off before saving. Finally, online features were completely inaccessible on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Previous FromSoftware games have had similar day one issues in the past, likely due to continual reuse of the same game engine. The earlier network test allowed more trouble shooting of the console versions of Elden Ring, but was not implemented on PC. This was likely to avoid more direct data mining and leaks. Currently the online servers for all PC versions of Dark Souls games are offline, due to exposure of security risks that can allow hackers access to player’s machines.
