Election 2012 Hub Launching On Xbox LIVE

Microsoft announced on Thursday (8/23) that they will be featuring a new Election 2012 Hub on Xbox LIVE. It will be available to Xbox LIVE members, in the U.S., on 8/27/12. The hub will allow users to watch and interact with live election coverage.

Xbox LIVE joined together with Rock the Vote during the 2008 presidential election "successfully driving tens of thousands of citizens to register to vote and become active participants in the election process." This election year Xbox LIVE has joined forces with Rock the Vote,  Face the Facts USA, YouGov, and a multitude of other political groups and leaders.

Using The Election 2012 Hub will allow for Xbox LIVE members to register to vote via Rock the Vote and watch daily election coverage through NBCNews.com.  Three scheduled presidential debates will be featured on the hub in which users can voice their opinions through poll questions. Live feeds will be available from the Democratic and Republican national conventions. Microsoft is providing coverage of the election so that the Xbox LIVE community can experience it as "participants — and not just viewers.”

In all hopes the Election 2012 Hub will get many more people out to vote and maybe get a younger generation interested in current events. But then again, it could end up like another long forgotten app taking up space on your hard drive. Cross your fingers for the former.
