It took about 3 years for Square Enix to solidify a release date for it in Japan. Now, one of the most recognized and iconic role-playing games of all time has finally been given a set date outside of its home country. Square’s current flagship title, Final Fantasy XIII, will reach North American and European shores on March 9, 2010. The company expected the game to be finished and shipped out sometime during the spring of next year, but it looks like things are looking better the way they originally planned it.
Final Fantasy XIII will be released both on the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 simultaneously, and Square has previously stated that they expect the highly-anticipated role-playing game to sell at least 6 million units worldwide. Lastly, a new theme song has been announced for FFXIII. UK pop artist Leona Lewis was approached by Square Enix to input one of her songs from her album Echo, titled “My Hands” to be the game’s main theme for the English version. According to a record executive, Lewis was enthusiastic about the decision, saying she was “honored to be partnered with such an iconic and groundbreaking video game series.” The Japanese theme song of Final Fantasy XIII, sung by Sayuri Sugawara, is called, “Kimi ga Iru Kara” (“Because You’re Here” ).
