Firesprite is one of Sony’s studios known for its unannounced projects. One of their most intriguing titles in development is reportedly a single-player narrative horror experience. While concrete information is scarce, leaks and rumors have been circulating about this project, which is believed to be codenamed “Heartbreak.”

PlayStation acquired Firesprite in 2021, and over the years, details about this mysterious project have slowly surfaced. Colin Moriarty, a somewhat reliable insider, mentioned on the Last Stand Media Podcast that the game might be set on an island and feature a female protagonist.

Additionally, game designer Emily Stell’s website describes the project as a narrative horror game for PlayStation 5 and PC, developed with Unreal Engine 5. It’s not uncommon for PlayStation to release exclusives on PC, and a day-and-date release could be a possibility.

Further speculation suggests that the game might be connected to an existing IP rather than being an original title. This idea is supported by the resume of Firesprite writer Ren Alex-Rose, who noted involvement in creating characters and storylines within a “pre-established IP.”

Moreover, Andreas Huynn, an environmental artist at Firesprite, has a Pinterest profile featuring boards dedicated to cosmic horror, architecture, and sci-fi, hinting at the potential themes of this game. As a fan of horror games, the idea of a new narrative horror game from PlayStation is exciting, especially if it comes with the level of quality we’ve come to expect from Sony’s first-party releases.
