Firmware 3.0 - Rumours

Around the internet, there are a few reports about the new Firmware. These reports said that the firmware will release before Christmas and was a ‘huge overhaul’ to the XMB, comparing it to 306’s NXE in that aspect.

 

The updates promised for the firmware were a reputation system, a griefing reporting system, simultaneous sound output through HDMI and digital optical cable and, the most interesting of the promised additions, background downloading of game patches. We want that one.

 

The origin of the rumour was VG247, who ended the article with an arrogant ‘Just remember where you heard it first’. Joystiq contacted SCEA, who proceeded to say ‘Those rumors are completely untrue, nothing has been announced or confirmed for upcoming PlayStation firmware, and this is just wild speculation.’ So it’s untrue.

 

Of course, that’s exactly what you might expect Sony to say, but now we have something to think about.
