Epic Games Fortnite is undoubtedly one of the biggest online games currently on the market with millions of players. It is thanks to its vast events and inclusion of a lot of characters from different mediums, such as movies, TV shows, and even other games. While Epic Games is no stranger to adding viral shows’ characters into the game, a peculiar character from the hit British show was expected to arrive in some capacity too. Until the showrunner has replied to one of the fans.

Doctor Who, a sci-fi show still continuing from the 1960s, was appearing here and there in Fortnite with subtle hits and references. With some data mining, there was a plausible chance that even Doctor itself would appear in the world of Fortnite, after all, portals and time travel were one of the main seasonal events. According to a leak that appeared last May, two of the most popular Doctors, one being David Tennant and the other being Ncuti Gatwa, were going to be playable.

For a glider, we would be able to use TARDIS, and Sonic Screwdriver was meant to replace the pickaxe. All that sounds good and fits Fortnite’s aesthetic, however, the showrunner Rusell T. Davies has answered whether Doctor Who will appear in the popular shooter game. The answer was unfortunately negative, and they responded to the question by stating it's a myth and nothing else.

Now this could be a sudden change in the internal works of both parties including as Disney recently agreed to a hefty 1.5 billion dollar stake purchase from Epic Games. This might have killed the deal right off as Disney wants to keep the exclusivity of Disney characters appearing in Fortnite for the foreseeable future. It is a shame that Doctor Who won’t appear in Fortnite as it is the 60th anniversary of the show’s first airing too, could have been a great opportunity but alas, this is the timeline we are currently living through instead.
