Gran Turismo 5 Obtains New Licences

Fans are growing increasingly impatient about the delays Gran Turismo 5 have faced over the past couple of years, with some hinting that the project had been cancelled altogether and they were just waiting for the right time to break the news. Have no fear though, because Sony has put all that to bed by showcasing a never-before-seen trailer of the game at their E3 conference, as well announcing the production of Gran Turismo for their PSP handheld.

The trailer for the PS3 version had some key details in it that will have fans of the series grinning broadly, those being the WRC and NASCAR licences. This will surely mean that a lot more cars, tracks, upgrades, etc, will be available for us all to enjoy.

They also showed off a trailer for the PSP version, which looked to have some pretty stunning visuals. That’s if it wasn’t pre-rendered of course.

Both were met with widespread applause.

Sadly, but predictably, neither Sony nor Polyphony Digital gave any indication of when the PS3 game will be released, but it is becoming more and more likely that we will see it on store shelves towards the latter part of the year. What has been confirmed is the release date of its PSP counterpart; we should see that in October.
