IGN Report on iPhone Gaming

There’s no doubting that the iPhone and iPod Touch have changed the way we see phones and portable music players respectively, but have they also changed our perspective on what a handheld gaming device is. IGN have done a recent study that reveals over 100 new games are added to the App Store every single week, all vying to become a tiny box on your user interface.

Of that number IGN Wireless asked how many games people actually have saved on their iPhone. Here’s how they answered:

1-5: 17%
6-10: 16%
11-15: 12%
16-20: 8%
More than 21: 26%
None: 3%
I don't have an iPhone: 18%

So, if this report is anything to go by then surely the mobile phone should now be considered a serious competitor in the handheld gaming market.
