LittleBigPlanet Price Cuts in UK
News by Craig Bryan on Apr 28, 2009
The critically acclaimed game from Media Molecule has plummeted to a price of just £10 in the UK, which equates to around $14.50 in US Dollars. The price drop comes just six months after the game was released and now puts it at a lower price than the games official strategy guide.
“In general the retail environment is very tough at present, but the positive consequence is that when consumers are feeling the need to monitor their spending there are still some attractive deals to be had if people shop around,” said a Sony spokesperson. “It is commonly accepted that in times of economic hardship, people value their entertainment. And the multiple hours of entertainment value represented in a video game can makes games a more attractive purchase, especially at a discounted price.”
It’s not as crazy as it seems though as LittleBigPlanet also generates revenue through its downloadable content, with updates coming regularly. The price could also indicate that its smaller brother – LittleBigPlanet PSP is not too far off the horizon. It was confirmed this week that Stephen Fry had been recording the voice over for the game, just like he did with the original.
