Madden 10 Wii Sales Suffer
News by Craig Bryan on Sep 14, 2009
It will probably come to no great surprise to you that Madden topped the sales charts for the month of August, shifting almost two million copies in little over two weeks. It wasn’t all rosy though, because while the game did well on other consoles; it sold just 67,000 copies on the Wii. That figure pales in comparison to last year, where that figure could have been almost doubled.
Jesse Divnich, an EEDAR analyst, reckons the reason for such poor sales is down to last years’ version – Madden 09, which wasn’t up to standard on the Wii. "I believe many diehard Madden fans, who transitioned from the Playstation 2 to the Wii, made their yearly Madden purchase in 2008 and realized that the Wii could not offer the same experience they have grown accustom to (online play, realistic graphics, in-depth team management),"
Madden 10 was supposedly built from the ground up this year exclusively for the Wii, so EA will most definitely be disappointed by these numbers.
