Mass Effect 3's Original Ending Plans Included the Queen of the Reapers
Shepard would've spoken to the Queen of the Reapers

Mass Effect 3's has gone down in gaming history as one of the most infamous endings. So much that BioWare had to issue an update to provide contextual endings but it seems there was something else entirely planned. With Shepard speaking to the Queen of the Reapers.
In the video People Make Games, and reported by IGN, ex-BioWare Montreal animation director Dave Wikinson Shepard would've met with this AI instead of the Star Child. With Shepard turning into a digital construct by connecting into the Citadel.
The Reaper would've explained the cycle plan would not be sustainable and they needed to evolve but AIs could not do this. She was locked away by the Reapers and Shepard would choose to blow up the Citadel along with the Reapers, kill the Queen and become the new Reaper AI, or fuse with it for the synthesis ending.
Mass Effect 4 is in development and the teaser trailer has hinted that the cannon ending is the Renegade option. Where Shepard destroyed all the Reapers but for now no other information has been provided on the project.
