Nintendo has recently started joining the modern world, by providing demos for their 3DS handheld. Since then they've released successful try-outs for Crush3D and the marvelous Resident Evil: Revelations. But perhaps the most noticeable title will launch this week. Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D will be available for testing through the Nintendo eShop coming February 16, 2012.

The demo will include the opening sequence, where Snake rustles through the Soviet jungles in search of some scientists. After that, players will get a chance to try out the varying camouflage options available, to make them blend in with the scenery. More so, they'll get a feel of some of the combat techniques used in the game to thwart enemies. Naturally, all this is available in glasses-free 3D. However, don't forget that demos have a limited use of 30 tries. Konami has said to release Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D on March 8, 2012.

This good news also comes with a slight downside for the million users of Metal Gear Online. The online shooter released alongside Metal Gear Solid 4 on June 12, 2008 will be retiring from service this June 12, 2012. The game will prepare for this shutdown by gradually discontinuing its services.

First, the MGO online shop will close down on March 12, 2012. After that, on April 24, players will no longer be able to create new characters. At the same time, Konami will release all Expansion Packs and Preset Codec Message Appeal Packs as a free download. Reward shop equipment will then also be available for free. No other information on the closure reason has been released.
