Michael Jackson and Video Games

As all of you should already know; Michael Jackson died this week. However, what a lot of you may not know is that he was a big fan of video games. He even starred in a couple – Moonwalker and Space Channel 5, not to mention he had strong links with Sega. He was also a fan of arcade machines and had a large collection of them in his homes, a lot of them can be found here.

There have also been conflicting reports in the press of late that he was working on his own video game before his death. Apparently said game was to be released as soon as this holiday season and headed by MJJ Productions, a company that was owned by Michael himself.

So what does this now mean for the video game industry? Well, I can imagine Guitar Hero is already after his licence, as will many others throughout the rhythm and dance game industries. There have also been rumours of a game chronicling his life story, but with such controversy surrounding many aspects of it this seems unlikely.
