New DMC Features Black-Haired Dante

Capcom managing director Kenji Inafune has constantly stated in the past that the next Devil May Cry installment will appeal more to Western audiences. Despite the series doing well in Japan, Europe, and North America, Inafune sees it differently; he feels that the DMC franchise sales have not been very high in the West.

 

Inafune has finally confirmed the rumors at this year’s Tokyo Game Show: a new Devil May Cry is indeed in the works. The game’s development will be helmed by Ninja Theory, who you may know as the creators of Heavenly Sword and their latest, soon-to-be-released action/adventure title, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.

 

The teaser video shown features a much younger Dante, who surprisingly has black hair and a skinny build. A few images (via Game Informer) have also been provided below:

 

 

 

 

 

So, do you like Dante’s new look, and the direction they’re going with the franchise? If this is what they meant about appealing more to Western audiences, it would be interesting to see how this franchise reimagining turns out for them; for better or for worse. DMC: Devil May Cry (the game’s current working title) is slated for release for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. No additional information has been given, but expect more details in the coming months.
