NFS: Online to Launch in Asia
News by Craig Bryan on Mar 03, 2009
Electronic Arts confirmed a few weeks back that it will publish a free, multiplayer PC-only game, Need for Speed World Online in Taiwan and Hong Kong this month. The game will offer various modes and tracks, and players will be able to form teams that can take on both rival teams and also the police.
EA have decided to launch in these countries in particular because, as Jon Niermann, President of EA Asia says “Need for Speed is one of the world’s best-selling franchises, and is especially popular among gamers in Taiwan and Hong Kong. We’re thrilled to bring this EA-owned property to Asia and to begin our self publishing model in Taiwan and Hong Kong. We look forward to the results of this testing phase for continued improvement in providing the best service to online gamers across Asia.”
This will be the most expansive Need for Speed world yet, with online leaderboards that track your progress every step of the way. The game will also offer fully customizable drivers and licensed vehicles
If all goes to plan, Europe and North America will join the fray in the coming months and years, depending on just how successful it becomes.
More information will be posted as and when available.
