A recent interview with Nintendo’s execs has revealed that the developer currently has no plans to release DLC or other additional content for its smash hit, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and according to the recent interview, the series’ long-time Producer Eiji Aonuma, the team wishes to focus on a new angle for the series.
Over the last months since the release, many players of the game and the series’ long-standing fans were hearing rumors about Nintendo being hard at work on an expansion for the game, and the rumors had the Legend of Zelda fanbase expecting the expansion to release soon.
Others were under the belief that on the 12th of September, a date that marks the four-month anniversary of the game’s release, which many believed to have been when Nintendo would have announced a DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom due to the precedent that they had set with their previous Breath of the Wild, with its two-part Game-Pass expansions.
According to a machine translation of Aonuma’s comment in the interview, he had stated that the developers have no intention of releasing any additional content as the team is not entirely too eager to revisit the setting of the last two mainline installments and that they have done everything that they could of with the setting and are looking to create new experiences for their many players.
The new insight that they gleaned from the interview shows that Nintendo does not intend to treat Tears of the Kingdom in the same way that they treated previous titles such as Breath of the Wild and that they would not be adding any additional content to their single-player games, this is not to say that Nintendo will not be adding any new content to their existing games sometime in the future; however, players can only speculate until then.
However, it is not all bad news, as Nintendo’s long-time producer has since conceded that Nintendo making a third game set within the same universe is still well within the realm of possibility. The new Legend of Zelda game will, however, be a completely new experience for players of the series, and with the announcement of the new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pack, players certainly have plenty of Nintendo content to look forward to in the months to come.
