Oblivion Anniversary Edition To Hit European Stores

Oh joy. After a few months of uncertainty, Bethesda has finally announced that the 5-year anniversary edition of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be hitting European stores.

The release date is set on the 23rd of September, which means that European Oblivion fanatics will have to wait another week before they can get their hands on this special edition. This version of Oblivion will contain the main game, as well as the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansions, a coloured game map, a documentary on the game's development, and a €5 discount voucher for the upcoming sequel to Oblivion, Skyrim.

While this anniversary edition may be a cool collector's item, it doesn't seem to offer too much to those who've already played this game to death (such as myself). The €5 Skyrim voucher is a nice little idea to attract a few extra buyers, but seeing as this anniversary edition of Oblivion will cost between 20 (PC) and 30 (X360, PS3) euros, that money may be better invested in Skyrim itself.

However, if you have somehow missed out on Oblivion all these years, this is the perfect excuse to give it a go before Skyrim finally comes out on November 11th.
