PlayStation 3 v2.70

Sony has released their latest firmware - version 2.70 - for the PlayStation 3. The new features included aren’t likely to raise many eyebrows, but it does throw a few useful things at us, which will surely be appreciated.

Perhaps the biggest addition is text chat that allows up to 16 friends to chat both in-game and out. Your friends can now also be sorted by their online status, which takes away the monotony of scrolling through them.

Other than that; there is an equalizer for your music, so that all your songs play at a similar volume level. There’s the option to back your purchased videos onto an external hard-drive or PSP, and lastly, the ability to copy and paste within the consoles internet browser.
