Capcom has announced that voice actress Jeanette Maus has passed away. Maus plays the witch daughters of Lady Dimiterescu in the upcoming Resident Evil Village. This would be Maus’ first role in any video game, but had a long career in commercials and film. The actress had been dealing with Crohn’s disease and battled colon cancer over the last eight months; she had also contracted COVID-19 sometime before passing. Her family and loved ones have started a GoFundMe to help cover medical expenses.
Although Resident Evil Village is set to release in May 2021, fans have already become very passionate about the family of female antagonists. Early video clips and screenshots depict Maus’ characters as pale vampire like hooded figures. One promotional shot of a daughter with a blood stained mouth has been very polarizing, with some critics finding it disturbing while others found it strangely pleasing. It is believed that Lady Dimiterescu is in fact a type of tyrant bioweapon, but it is unknown if this trait extends to her daughters.
