Six Days in Fallujah Axed
News by Craig Bryan on Apr 28, 2009
Konami has taken the decision to end plans of publishing Six Days in Fallujah, a video game that focuses on the Iraqi battle. This comes after pressure mounted on the Japanese company from anti-war and pro-military camps and organizations. Anthony Crouts, Konami's vice president stated "We are no longer doing the title at this time," but refused to say any more on the subject.
The game is being made by Atomic Games and it’s unconfirmed whether they will now look for another publisher or take the decision of ceasing production altogether.
It was perhaps the fact that they had asked soldiers who fought in the battle that hit the biggest nerve. "We had intended to convey the reality of the battles to players so that they could feel what it was like to be there," said a Konami spokesman, but went on to say "After seeing the reaction to the videogame in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell it."
