There is a new wave of PlayStation announcements, such as a next-generation DualSense controller, major enhancements to the PlayStation 5 Pro's graphics and performance, and the release of a brand-new PlayStation 5 exclusive. These changes point to big improvements in hardware, features, and future gaming experiences.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a partnership with J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Games to produce and publish a new co-op shooter from Left 4 Dead creator Mike Booth. The unannounced four-player co-op title, directed by Booth, is coming to PlayStation 5 and PC in the future.

Bad Robot Games CEO Anna Sweet expressed excitement about delivering a bold and innovative experience. With Mike Booth at the creative helm, the goal is to create unforgettable moments with friends. The involvement of the Left 4 Dead creator sparks hopes that the game may carry a similar energy—possibly even evolving what a spiritual Left 4 Dead 3 could feel like.

Many hope for strong characters, chaotic levels, and fun-first design rather than monetization-focused systems seen in other co-op shooters, such as Back 4 Blood. Considering the likely long development time, the game may become a cross-generation title across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 6, and PC.

Reports say that Sony has improved the internals of the current DualSense model, the CFI-ZCT2W, which should make it last much longer.

A Polish console modder and controller specialist conducted extensive testing. They said the new controller can withstand more than 15 hours of continuous play with adaptive triggers and haptics enabled.

The improvements come from multiple years of hardware refinements, including the removal of a second microphone and more efficient electronics. Sony introduced several internal changes from BDM010 to BDM060, resulting in substantial power savings even on the standard 1560mAh battery. Cooler charging temperatures were also noted due to refined engineering.

Retail listings earlier this year hinted at a DualSense V2 advertising 12 hours of battery life. Still, real-world results may exceed those based on these findings. Anyone looking to purchase a new controller should check the box for the product code CFI-ZCT2W. Newly released themed controllers, such as the limited edition Genshin Impact model, should include these improvements. Many of us who already own several controllers may still feel tempted to pick this one up to see if the extended battery claims hold true.

A major upgrade is coming to PlayStation 5 Pro with the arrival of PSSR 2.0 in 2026.

New details come from Moore's Law Is Dead, which shared developer insights into a new algorithm called Multiframe Support Resolution 2 (MFSR2). Developers have been provided with a tool called PSML Replay, which helps identify PSSR-related glitches in current software, particularly artifacting issues.

Sony currently refers to PSSR as Multiframe Super Resolution 1, and documentation points toward MFSR2 as the foundation of PSSR 2.0. The new tech uses a fresh API, meaning studios will need to patch their games to take full advantage of it.

A developer source compared the leap from PSSR 1 to PSSR 2 to the improvement seen when AMD jumped from FSR 3 to FSR 4. Given that the original PSSR has already outperformed FSR 2 in several showcases, the integration of FSR 4-level technology represents a significant visual leap.

There may be a slight performance cost similar to what is seen with FSR 4 on PC. Still, console players are expected to experience minimal drawbacks. The visual upgrades planned for 2026 could deliver sharper images, cleaner motion, and enhanced clarity for PlayStation 5 Pro players.

Many of us are excited about the next era of PlayStation technology, from the major performance enhancements coming to PlayStation 5 Pro to the new long-lasting DualSense V2 controller.

Testing whether the controller truly delivers up to 15 hours with adaptive triggers and haptics fully enabled is something we look forward to. The upcoming PSSR 2.0 update also brings anticipation as we wait to see how much visual fidelity improves in supported games by 2026.

Suppose excitement is high for both the controller and PlayStation 5 Pro upgrade.
