Sony Under Pressure

News by Craig Bryan on  Mar 16, 2009

Sony has been facing a lot of pressure lately from video game publishers about the price of their PlayStation 3 console, with many threatening to jump ship and move development funds over to their rival – the Nintendo Wii.

While the console has been praised for its great processing power, graphics and built-in Blu-Ray player; it will never truly become a front runner in the hardware market unless prices are slashed to compete with rivals - the PS3 is $200 more than the lowest-priced Xbox 360 and $150 more than the market-leading Wii.

Only time will tell whether Sony give in to demands and cut prices to increase their player base, but judging by past reductions in October 2007 – which saw sales double in the next month – it could be very beneficial to everyone involved.
