Nintendo expects big things from Super Mario Run and has revealed that players who want to play the game with unlimited access will have to pay.

Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Doug Bowser accompanied the announcement with the following statement:
“The wait is almost over for a Super Mario game that can be played on mobile devices. Developed under the direction of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, Super Mario Run brings a new take on the series’ beloved action-platforming gameplay to iPhone and iPad for the first time.”
Super Mario Run will be available for free on the iOS application store and allow players to try elements of the three modes. Those who want unlimited access will have to pay $9.99.
Super Mario Run launches on December 15th and will be compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices running iOS 8.0 or any later version. It will launch in 151 countries and regions, and support the following language options: English, German, Dutch, French, Spanish, Russian, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, and Chinese.
Our Take: Gamers might see this negatively, having content locked away for a premium price. It seems like the free-to-play version is a demo of the actual game.
