A surprising wave of Nintendo Switch 2 news has started appearing online, with several games either leaking through official channels or being linked to credible insiders. As speculation continues to build around a potential Nintendo Direct, the latest reports suggest Nintendo could have a packed lineup of announcements waiting in the wings.
One of the first developments involves Stray on Nintendo Switch 2. When the upgraded version of the game launched, players quickly noticed that the expected free upgrade path from the original Nintendo Switch release was missing. That led some users to purchase the game twice. Fortunately, the issue appears to have been resolved, with an official free upgrade now available for existing owners moving from Nintendo Switch to Nintendo Switch 2.

Another newly announced Nintendo Switch 2 title has generated a more cautious reaction. A horror game called Beyond the Dark Night Watch has been revealed as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. The project is described as an isometric co-op horror experience, but some players have raised concerns about the developer's history.
According to online discussions, a previous project associated with the developer reportedly received funding but never reached release.
There are also claims that another developer, who was attached to the project and considered more established, is no longer involved. None of that automatically means the new Nintendo Switch 2 game is in trouble, but it has prompted some players to recommend waiting before committing to a preorder.
Meanwhile, Nintendo fans who enjoy horror games may have another reason to pay attention. Comments from Capcom have reignited discussion about the future of Resident Evil. While much of the franchise has taken place outside Japan, Capcom producer Koshi Nakanishi and other team members have previously expressed interest in using Japan as a future setting.
The possibility of a Japanese Resident Evil game has generated excitement because it could allow Capcom to explore local folklore, myths, supernatural creatures, and other themes that have not been heavily featured in the series before. Rather than relying solely on zombies, a Japan-based Resident Evil could open the door to entirely different horror concepts.
The biggest confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 leak, however, comes from an official rating.
Minecraft has now been rated for Nintendo Switch 2 through the ESRB, making its arrival look all but certain. The move makes a lot of sense for Nintendo. Minecraft became one of the defining games of the original Nintendo Switch generation and remains one of the platform's biggest success stories. Nintendo Switch 2 mouse controls could also be a natural fit for Minecraft, potentially giving players another way to interact with the game.
Because Minecraft was such a major part of the Nintendo Switch era, there is growing speculation that Nintendo may save the announcement for a Nintendo Direct rather than simply dropping a trailer online. The game could even receive new Nintendo-themed content, similar to previous crossover material tied to Nintendo franchises. Beyond Minecraft, several leaks connected to Sega and Atlus have also surfaced. The insider who shared information about the upcoming Jet Set Radio revival has reportedly revealed a wide range of additional projects.

Among those claims are Persona content coming to Fortnite, new Sonic announcements planned for later this year, a redesigned Sonic character model, a new Jet Set Radio character named Sierra, and a fresh Ace Attorney announcement. The same reports also claim that a larger Jet Set Radio trailer is being prepared, a new Streets of Rage project is moving forward, and that Metaphor: ReFantazio is currently being developed for Nintendo Switch 2.
Out of all the rumored projects, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Metaphor: ReFantazio stands out as one of the most believable.
The game feels like a natural fit for Nintendo's new hardware, and many expect it to appear during a future Nintendo Direct. There is also curiosity about how Atlus would handle the game's file size. Metaphor: ReFantazio takes up roughly 71 GB on PlayStation platforms, so if a Nintendo Switch 2 version is in development, fans will be watching closely to see whether Nintendo can offer a fully physical release on cartridge.
Other claims from the same leak include Crazy Taxi arriving before Jet Set Radio, Phantasy Star Online 3 entering development, a new Puyo Puyo game planned for next year, and additional content for Persona 5X. While none of these reports have been officially confirmed by Sega, Atlus, or Nintendo, many of them align with projects fans have been expecting for some time.
The final rumor focuses on Nintendo and one of its long-running characters.
Nash Weedle has once again suggested that something Wario-related is in development. Earlier reports linked Nintendo's camera plans to a mysterious Wario project, although some of that information may actually have been linked to another recently revealed title. Even so, the insider continues to claim that a new Wario game is on the way.
Whether that project ends up being a new WarioWare entry or a long-awaited Wario Land revival remains unclear. Both options would make sense for Nintendo Switch 2. WarioWare could make use of the system's camera and mouse controls, while Wario Land would bring back a platforming series that many Nintendo fans have wanted to see return for years.
Adding even more fuel to the speculation, previous Nintendo rumors connected to Star Fox and an Ocarina of Time remake also mentioned a possible Wario project. With multiple leaks pointing in a similar direction, it increasingly feels like Nintendo may be preparing to revisit the character.

For now, much of the attention remains focused on when Nintendo will hold its next Nintendo Direct.
Between the Minecraft rating, the possibility of Metaphor: ReFantazio on Nintendo Switch 2, ongoing Wario rumors, and a growing list of third-party projects, Nintendo appears to have no shortage of announcements waiting to be revealed.
With Summer Game Fest and the XBOX Showcase also approaching, the next few weeks could end up delivering one of the busiest stretches of gaming news this year, and Nintendo looks positioned to be right in the middle of it.
