Ubisoft's narrative director Navid Khavari provided some insight into what players can expect from Far Cry 6 including some background about Anton.
This is the biggest Far Cry game to date, with a fully-featured Captial City which is a first for the franchise. Anton who rules this city isn't popular and his divisive regime has caused civil unrest, with those loyal to him fighting against the rebels as well.
To tell a modern, complex story, our players aren’t looking for such a simple black-and-white world, right? When you're looking at something as complex as an island that's been essentially cut off from the rest of the world for 50 years, been in an economic downturn, electing this leader on the back of this idea of building a new paradise, the idea with Antón is he definitely lulled people into believing this was the only answer for them.
Anton saw his father get executed over 50 years ago when he was in power. This shaped the young teenager into what he is today, believing that his future was taken from him. This twisted logic helped Anton justify all the horrible things he has and will do to get back what he believes was taken from him.
Anton isn't alone, he has a child. His son Diego was shown during the trailer as Anton provides his ideology to his son in a dark way. Having his son hold a grenade while moving through their home.
The player will be taking on the role of Dani Rojas, a freedom fighter native to the region, and fighting for his home. With the player able to choose either a male or female version of Dani, each voiced by either Sean Rey for male or Nisa Gunduz for female.
Far Cry has been notorious for delivering powerful villains in their games. Such as Vaas, The Father, or Pagan Min. Each one having unique personalities reinforces with extreme actions involving violence to get their message or keep their authority.
Far Cry 6 launches on February 18th for Xbox Series X, PS5, and PC.
