You'll Need a 4K TV if you Plan to Buy an Xbox One Scorpio

If you plan to upgrade your Xbox One to a Scorpio model you'll need an 4K television.

Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, told Eurogamer that gamers looking to upgrade to either the Xbox One S or the Scorpio depends on what television they have.

“Then you should buy this box, because Scorpio is not going to do anything for you,” said Spencer. “Scorpio is designed as a 4K console, and if you don’t have a 4K TV, the benefit we’ve designed for, you’re not going to see. Clearly, you can buy Scorpio, and if and when you decide you want to buy a 4K television to take advantage of the increased performance, obviously the console will be ready for you.”

In response to the price Spencer went on to explain that the system is going to be sold at a premium price over what the Xbox One S is being sold at. He continued to state that the Scorpio's design is intended for those yearning for 4K gaming, for those with a 1080p television the S model is more efficent.

Basically if you have no interest in purchasing a 4K television than purchasing an Xbox One Scorpio is a waste.
