Nvidia RTX 50 series has officially entered the budget segment, and RTX 5060 Ti stands out as a highly capable GPU upgrade for most gamers. Built on the latest Blackwell architecture, RTX 5060 Ti packs in cutting-edge features like ray tracing, DLSS 4, Reflex 2, and more, all starting at $449.

Design and Build Quality

We tried the Asus Prime RTX 5060 Ti OC 16GB edition, which costs roughly $510 and is available through Nvidia's authorized resellers. This model features a sleek triple-fan arrangement with 70mm Axial-tech fans that increase air pressure for better thermals, quieter operation, and higher performance.

A full-metal backplate with a cutout for the heatsink resembles the flow-through cooler design found in Nvidia Founders Edition GPUs. Despite having three fans, the card is only 2.5 slots thick and meets Nvidia's SFF-ready specifications, making it excellent for tiny ITX designs.

Features and Connectivity

Despite its modest cost, Asus Prime RTX 5060 Ti offers a dual BIOS option that allows users to choose between performance and silent modes. We tested with the default performance profile. The card remains efficient and quiet when loaded, and its cooling technology effectively keeps temperatures under control, even during strenuous operations.

Test Build Configuration

For benchmarking, we paired RTX 5060 Ti with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, a ROG Strix B850F Gaming Wi-Fi motherboard, an Asus Prime LC360 ARGB cooler, 32GB of DDR5-6400 memory, a 1TB Gen4 SSD, an Asus Prime 850W Gold PSU, and a TUF Gaming GT302 case.

This configuration delivers excellent balance for gaming and productivity and is available as a pre-built option from Nvidia partners.

Gaming Performance

RTX 5060 Ti handles AAA titles at 1440p above 60 fps on max settings. Dropping down to 1080p, which is where most gamers play, you'll see over 140 fps in AAA games like Red Dead Redemption 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and over 240 fps in esports titles such as Fortnite, Counter-Strike: 2—ideal for high refresh rate monitors.

DLSS 4 significantly boosts frame rates, sometimes up to 4x, allowing smooth gameplay without sacrificing visual fidelity.

DLSS 4 and Multi-Frame Generation

Support for DLSS 4 and multi-frame generation, which are unique to the Blackwell architecture, are two of RTX 5060 Ti's most notable capabilities. Select the 2x, 3x, or 4x modes from the in-game settings menu to activate DLSS 4 in supported games.

The Nvidia app features an override option that allows you to manually select the performance multiplier and enable DLSS 4 for titles that aren't supported.

We tested this with First Burer Kazan, a recent AAA game that supports native DLSS 4. At max settings, the game hovered around 100 fps, but with DLSS 4 enabled, frame rates nearly doubled. While some visual artifacts are present, they're negligible during high-intensity gameplay and far less intrusive than early versions of DLSS.

Ray Tracing and Visual Fidelity

DLSS 4, combined with multi-frame generation, allows for ray tracing without the typical performance drop. With a growing number of new games featuring ray tracing and DLSS, as well as updates to older titles, these capabilities appear to be required rather than optional for modern gaming.

Power and Thermal Efficiency

Despite its capabilities, RTX 5060 Ti's TDP in both memory configurations is 180W. Throughout our tests, the Asus Prime cooler manages this well, with peak temperatures averaging just 65.7°C under load. This raises the power and thermal efficiency of the card relative to its class.

Key Takeaways

Asus Prime RTX 5060 Ti 16GB OC is a versatile GPU that excels in AI and gaming tasks. If you're looking to build a new PC or replace your existing one, RTX 5060 Ti combines great value with features that are usually reserved for more expensive cards.
