Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate going free-to-play

A free-to-player version of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, called Core Fighters, is being developed by Tecmo Koei. Intended to be a PS3 download for September 3 in North America the title will include 4 characters, free online with other users and in game purchases.
Core Fighters will include 4 playable characters, Ryu Hayabusa, Hayate, Kasumi, and Ayane. The opponents will be the entire roster of the full version and all the stages will be included. A tutorial and training mode will be in the free version, but the story mode will be absent. In game purchases will be add new characters, $4 each, and the story will be $15.
Online play will be free and allow those using both the F2P and retail version to face one another.
