Echoes of the End Guide | All Chapter 8 Collectibles

You enter a new set of exploration challenges throughout Aema's world in Chapter 8 of Echoes of the End. Ten important collectibles are scattered throughout the various environments of this stage, including elevated mountain regions and lakeside ruins.

These items include permanent Health and Mana Upgrades, several Journal Entries, and one Optional Conversation that provides extra narrative depth. To reach many of these locations, you must learn how to use the newly introduced purple platform mechanics and apply them effectively during traversal and puzzle-solving.

A key mechanic introduced here is the purple platform system, which must be used precisely to obtain several collectibles. Before attempting to reach higher or hidden areas, practice your timing and positioning. 

Secret #1: Chitin Armor Journal

Begin your search near the lakeside ruins where an old hut stands out as a landmark. The Chitin Armor Journal is located behind this main structure, partially covered by vegetation. This entry contains information about ancient methods of armor construction once used across Aema.

Secret #2: Health Upgrade

Once you have completed the purple platform training, head toward the cliff overlooking the lake area. Climb to the elevated enemy camp above. The Health Upgrade chest is located behind the main camp building.

Getting this upgrade will permanently extend your maximum health capacity. Avoid attempting the climb before you have mastered the purple platform techniques, as they are necessary for reaching this area safely.

Secret #3: Sponge On A Stick Journal

To find the Sponge On A Stick Journal, move toward the zone featuring two purple platforms. You must activate both in succession to reach the high ledge near the metal grate.

Step carefully onto the first platform and time your jump to the second one when it appears. The journal chest is placed on the ledge above, accessible only through this sequence.

Secret #4: Miner's Journal

Go left through the stone archway once you've solved the gate puzzle. A wooden ledge will be visible, and a well-timed jump will get you there. It contains the Miner's Journal chest, which offers background on the area's historical mining operations. 

Optional Conversation #1

When you reunite with Abram, cross the gap using the purple platform setup. On the left side, after crossing, you will find the Optional Conversation chest. Interacting with it unlocks additional dialogue that sheds light on the relationship between Ryn and Abram.

Secret #5: Obsidian Idol Journal

Proceed to the edge of the cliff and descend on the right side in the same area as the last discussion. Control your movement as you fall to get into the small opening between the cliff walls. This little alcove conceals the chest of the Obsidian Idol Journal. The descent requires precise timing to avoid missing the spot. 

Secret #6: Second Miner's Journal

Continue forward until you reach the open area containing a large enemy group. After the battle, search behind the wooden hut nearby to find the Second Miner's Journal. This record provides further details about the decline of the mining settlement before the disaster that transformed Aema.

Secret #7: Old Manuscript Journal

Following the chapter's boss encounter, move straight ahead and climb the wall located on the left side. Circle the structure to locate a concealed chest containing the Old Manuscript Journal. This document preserves historical accounts from long before Ryn's current journey.

Secret #8: Third Miner's Journal

During the section where you face a Glomori enemy near the crane mechanism, investigate the left-hand side of the zone. The Third Miner's Journal chest is positioned among the rocks and completes the mining journal sequence, detailing the conclusion of the excavation efforts.

Secret #9: Bag Of Beads Journal

As you ascend the mountain area, you will come across two crane structures. On the ledge directly in front of them rests the chest containing the Bag of Beads Journal. This entry describes ancient trade customs and the role of ornamental items in earlier societies.

Secret #10: Mana Upgrade

Make your way to the mountain's top drawbridge.   On the left side, before crossing, is the chest that holds the Mana Upgrade.   Gathering it will increase your overall magic capacity, allowing you to use abilities more often in later sections. It is recommended to gather this item last because the enhanced mana becomes very helpful in the last parts of the chapter.
