Interviewing - Sarwar Ron

People by Borna Tanya on  Aug 01, 2009

Welcome back to my interview blogs. This time, our guest is Ron, the CEO of NoobFeed. Ron has been one of the most active and friendliest figures on this site. It's impossible to find a blog where he hasn't commented. He is known as Sarwar Ron in the local communities and is a very popular figure indeed. So, let's not waste time and head to the interview session.

Tanya: Tell us about yourself and share something you usually don't with general people.

Ron: I'm a straightforward person who tends to lead a simple life, and I believe everyone has equal rights to live their lives.

What type of games do you like the most, and name a few of your favorite games?

Ron: I'm a strategy game freak. But I also enjoy playing Souls-like, RTS, city-building, turn-based, and RPG games. They don't take much of your time, and they are full of entertainment. C&C and Knights of honor, FIFA, Call of Duty4, Prince of Persia ..many more.

Ron: I oversee the development portion and a few other technical aspects, in addition to marketing, both online and offline.

It was Serbsta who came up with the idea more than a year ago, and it was some offer I couldn't refuse.

Which part of this site do you enjoy the most? You seem to be very active when it comes to the user blog!

Ron: Yes, I do enjoy reading blogs, but I enjoy reading reviews the most. It'll be reviews, forums, and blogs if I prioritize them.

Name one user from the NoobFeed community who you think is an ideal user. You have to name only one, even if there are several.

Ron: This is very hard. The standard Craig and Ilias have set is hard for any user to reach, even for me. But the contribution of Kelaids has been remarkable. Not to mention you, who have brought us a good amount of signups :)

Share something from your personal life? Your hobbies, activities, family, etc.

Ron: I was forced to leave home at the age of 13, so my activities are mostly professional and down-to-earth. I run a small school for underprivileged children, and I travel extensively whenever I get the chance.

You are a very popular figure in the local gaming community. Why did you decide to go for an international site rather than a local community?

Ron: I never consider myself popular. I haven't done anything worth mentioning for Bangladeshi gamers. But, yes. I do have plans for them. Let's just say everything is on process.

And who has said I'm not part of any local community? I'm the Community Manager of one of the biggest and most popular sites in the country. We have one of our very active members, Nirvana, as a Moderator there. Not to mention biZZy, who is the top poster of that site.

NoobFeed had quite a lot of publicity in the local newspapers when it launched. Why did it stop? And, is it true that NoobFeed is going to have a TV program very soon?

Ron: Initially, we allowed a few newspapers to publish gaming news from our site, but due to the language barrier, the translations weren't coming out properly.

Later on, we realized that Bangladesh doesn't provide the appropriate crowd for an international gaming community site. Perhaps in the future we'll revisit the publications more often.

Nothing has been finalized for the TV program yet. Everyone will be informed when we have one.

What's your plan for NoobFeed?

Ron: Add a few more features and definitely many more content and user activities.

Thank you for your time, Ron. Tell us anything you feel like saying to the readers. And, have a nice day :)

Ron: You are most welcome, Tanya. We're glad to have someone like you with us :)

I hope you all have enjoyed the interview as much as I did. Thanks again to Ron for his time, and also to all of you for reading. Have a nice day, everyone. In case you haven't seen my interview with Craig, here's the link: Interviewing - Craig Bryan
