Just wondering...

As all useless and confusing problems, mine also started during one of those long math classes where you'd look on the walls and think about lots and lots of things that wouldn't normally catch your attention.
Thinking intensively at nothing as trying to understand the class was pointless, one idea came to my mind: "Which was the hardest game that I've played?"; and I started thinking more and more on this problem. :P

 

Because the class was absolutely boring I went on to questioning my colleagues, but their answers are not even worth mentioning. As I was still dazzled by this question I when I got home, I searched the net for gamer made tops on such a topic.The results were as expected, most of the games were for the NES or from the DOS period, but I don't think the results were that conclusive. I mean there were mentioned games like GTA: San Andreas, Far Cry or Contra(the first one) in the top 5... So, I'm asking you guys, Which are the hardest games you've played? You don't have to make a top, just name them and if they aren't that well known please mention the platform.

 

As far as my answer goes, I'm sticking with the Castlevania series(which are renowned as hard to beat) , Supaplex(PC)(because you’ll have to play the level over and over and memorize every single step to complete it), Battletoads(NES)(the game starts as being pretty interesting and funny but quickly turns into a nerve-wrecking game), Gauntlet(NES)(I honestly don’t know how somebody would be expected to finish this game) and Commander Keen 2 and 3(PC)(it’s pretty clear that they lacked the inspiration in some moments but that’s pushing it too far..)
