Darkside is going to be one of the first bosses that you’ll encounter in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix. He can seem a bit intimidating, and his heavy attacks don’t seem to help with that. Luckily, he isn’t the most challenging of bosses, primarily because of his predictable attack patterns.

Once you get the hang of targeting Darkside’s weaknesses, the entire fight should be a breeze. This guide will explain how.

Darkside may seem tanky at first, that is, unless you prioritise attacking his weak points, which happen to be his head and his hands. For easy picking, you’ll want to focus on attacking the hand that he uses during his ground slam, which will give you a window of opportunity to deal damage. The head tends to be harder to hit, but you do get rewarded with Tech Points after connecting.

When Darkside does his ground slam attack, you’ll want to stay around the outskirts of the area to avoid being in his reach. Once the attack is over, dash towards the hand that is still on the ground to inflict damage.

The ground slam attack of his also happens to annoyingly spawn enemies, which are often a nuisance to deal with since they tend to interrupt your attacks; the spawned enemies should be dealt with promptly, and you must utilize the HP orbs that they drop for added health.

If you want to speed things up, you can always choose to climb up his arm and inflict damage to his head.  Locking on his arm makes doing this so much easier.

After a certain point during the fight, Darkside will kneel and start shooting projectiles from his body; make sure to always be on the run so that you don’t take as much damage. If you happen to be brave enough, you can also choose to deflect the projectiles back at him, granting you even more Tech Points.

Darkside does his same cycle of attacks until he’s finally defeated, making him pretty rudimentary and easy to deal with; his final attacks have him perform a plung attack, which also happens to be easy to dodge with a well-timed jump.

To master Darkside, you’ll want to be wary of his attack patterns and also be on the run; it takes great patience and attentiveness. Be sure to check for attack windows, and always be on the lookout for Health Orbs and other advantages.
