Screamer Guide | How to Perform Perfect Boosts

In Screamer, Performing a Perfect Boost is the best way to get ahead of other racers, though the timing is different than in other games. You will need to master this quick burst of speed if you want to finish specific objectives in Tournament mode or just drive faster.

Identifying a Successful Boost

You can tell you hit the timing right because green electricity will surround your car. A solid yellow triangle will also stay on your screen for a moment to show you succeeded. These boosts last much longer than the standard version, which makes a big difference in how you place in a race.

Master the Timing Minigame

To start the process, you must hold down the Boost button. A white triangle will move across your screen toward other shapes. If you let go while the white triangle is inside the blue area, you only get a normal boost. To get the Perfect Boost, you have to release the button exactly when the white triangle overlaps with the Yellow Triangle. It helps to let go just a split second before they perfectly line up. This is the same move the game calls an Enhanced Boost in early missions, but by Episode 8, the game starts calling it a Perfect Boost.

Practice the Technique

The timing for this move is very tight, so you have to be precise. Do not wait until you are past the Yellow Triangle to release the button, or you will only get a basic speed increase. If you practice letting go right before the shapes touch, you will find it easier to do consistently. Learning this skill is necessary because the extra speed duration helps you pass opponents much easier than regular boosting.
