The Elder Scrolls Online Goes Free To Play
News by AyePal on Jan 21, 2015
The inevitable has finally happened. What was once dubbed as one of the best games to perhaps finally cut through Blizzard’s MMO market domination has finally put a halt to its subscription service. The service will come to a stop in March, with the game changing its name to The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.
You’ll still have to purchase the game if you want to play it – but once you have, you’ll be able to play for as long as you like without having to pay monthly.
Players will also get the option to purchase “ESO Plus” memberships which will provide “game packs with optional additional content,” “character progression bonuses,” and “convenience and customisation items”.
Bethesda has yet to confirm whether or not they plan to continue to charge the current $60 for the game (Standard Edition). The game will go live on the 17th of March. Zeni Max Online Studios will also be discussing the changes if more detail over on their twitch stream at 12pm EST on January 21st.
