Game Guide by Ornstein on  Sep 04, 2025

The University of Saint Bookston is a prestigious location in Tiny Bookshop, where knowledge, stress, and creativity all collide. Here, you encounter Professor Wen, Anne, and Moira, each with unique tasks that test your ability to recommend books, sell to stressed students, and create a calming atmosphere.

This area is one of the most educational and rewarding locations in the game, culminating in your symbolic graduation. This guide covers every university-related challenge step by step, ensuring that your bookshop passes the academic test.

Halls of Knowledge

The University unlocks during the Summer Bonfire, when Anne invites you to explore the campus. The challenge requires you to talk to someone at the University. By speaking with Professor Wen—who usually sits on a bench—you complete the task and open up a series of more demanding challenges tied to her.

Academic Relevance

Your first real academic challenge is impressing Professor Wen with three perfect recommendations. Unlike other locations, near-perfect will not suffice here. Only flawless matches are accepted.

Since she favors Classic books, stocking plenty of them will improve your odds. Visit the University often, as you can only attempt one recommendation per day. Speaking to her early, right after opening your shop, gives you the widest selection of books to work with. Once you provide three perfect recommendations, she praises your expertise, and the challenge is complete.

Assigned Reading

During Orientation Week (Autumn 1–5), students are eager to buy books for their courses. This challenge requires you to sell fifteen books in the Fact or Classic genres. The timing is crucial—while Orientation Week provides a significant sales boost, it may also be possible to trigger this task at other points in the semester. Keep your shelves full of relevant titles, and soon enough, you will become the go-to shop for new students.

There's More to Life

The University is not only about academia. During the exam phase (Winter 8–12 or Spring 22–26), Anne approaches you to help ease student stress. She asks you to sell fifteen academically irrelevant books, meaning genres outside of Fact, Travel, or Classic.

Keeping lighter books, such as fantasy, Romance, and Crime, on hand will help things move along steadily. You can keep working on this task until it's done, even after exams. This illustrates the importance of striking a balance between work and leisure.

Lo-Fi Study Sessions

During exam weeks, Moira encourages you to create a relaxing environment for stressed students. For this challenge, equip five Calming items in your shop and then return to the University. You can filter your inventory by the "Calming" category to quickly see what qualifies.

Once equipped, the University becomes a peaceful haven where students can study without anxiety. This task is an excellent reminder of how shop atmosphere plays as much of a role as book selection.

Graduation With Honors

The final University challenge ties all your efforts together. After completing all other University stamps, you can return to Professor Wen, who rewards you with the symbolic honor of graduating from Saint Bookston. While it is not an actual degree, it marks your achievement in mastering the University's trials and serves as a badge of prestige for your bookshop journey.

Tips for Success

Always visit the University during its seasonal highlights—Orientation Week for Fact and Classic sales, and Exam Weeks for stress-related tasks.

Stock up heavily on classic books if you want to impress Professor Wen quickly.

Keep Calming items on hand for Moira's challenge. These items not only benefit the University but also enhance customer satisfaction elsewhere.

Remember that one recommendation per day for Professor Wen means patience is essential. Plan and don't rush.
